The massage recipient changes into loose, comfortable clothes and lies on a mat or firm mattress on the floor. The receiver may be positioned in a variety of yoga-like positions during the course of the massage, but deep static and rhythmic pressure form the core of the massage.
The massage therapist leans on the recipients body using hands and usually straight forearms locked at the elbow to apply firm rhythmic preassure. The massage generally follows designated lines in the body. Legs and feet of the therapist can be used to fixate the body ot limbs of the recipient. In other positions, hands fixate the body while the feet do the massaging action. A full Thai massage sessions typically lasts one hour or more and includes rhythmic pressing and stretching of the entire body; this may include pulling fingers, toes, and walking on the back.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structure of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue. Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense. It is also more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or knots.
Swedish massage is a system of long strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, and shaking motions that apply pressure between muscles and bones, rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning the the heart. Swedish massage feels good, is relaxing and invigorating.
Thai foot massage is a type of massage of the feet and lower legs. Thai foot massage is both invigorating and deeply relaxing and involves hands on massage, stretching and pressure to stiimulate reflex points.
It's a unique combination of light and strong pressure. We start warming up the body with Thai massage followed by spreading massage oil, then continue the session with some long relaxing strokes of Swedish massage or deep tissue. The combination will relieve stressful tensions along the body and relaxes the muscles in your back, neck and shoulder.
